And an apology and further explanation from the person who had actually written what I read. The air is clear and we can move forward!

Decided to close the gossip loop and also directly address the person who presented and where I read what was written about me. I essentially said the same above and made the offer to sit down with her.

ETA: Woman who plugged in apologized and said that she does not have any issues she would like to discuss. Waiting to see if the other one responds.

Sent this to this morning.

Hi, first, I apologize that this message is through slack, I would prefer to have had this conversation in person. However, I'm out for the next week and I didn't want to sit on it. Yesterday, at the end of the day I was in a meeting with [coworker]. She plugged in her computer to present and slack was open to her conversation with you. It was clear that you were gossiping about me. It shocked and hurt me to see what was written on the screen. If I'm doing something that irritating or bothering you, I would prefer if you came and addressed it directly with me. Happy to sit down and discuss whatever that may be and anything else moving forward from there.

I'm going to send her a message tomorrow telling her what I read and ask her if she wants to sit down and clear the air. We'll see how it goes!

Sales still has more pull than any sort of G&A function. But, our world is much smaller.

There are two different kind of HR people, in my experience. Those that actually care about people and their growth, and those that are more interested in the power that comes with the access to information we have. She clearly is more interested in the latter. There's a clear distinction between the two parties and we're aware of it.

There are 2 people I report into on the contract, one so her boss's boss, the other is a peer of her boss. Right now, I'm closer with her boss's peer. I told him before I left today, purely because I needed to get it off my chest. He asked me if I was going to address it, and I said that I haven't made a decision yet. He apologized and acknowleged there's a gossip problem in the department.

The one who I have the beef with is not that young. She's old enough to know better. The one who accidentally had her screen up, I'm inclined to give a pass to.

It really should be, instead I had an extra cocktail at happy hour while I add her to my blackball list.

Stings for me, but it's their funeral.

She did at first, and then at the end of the meeting she relaxed, because my name wasn't used, and then just left it up longer giving more access to read.

Thing is these women are young and new in their career. They don't quite understand how small Silicon Valley is, I got your number bitches.

ETA: I had a call yesterday for a backdoor reference from someone who worked for me in 2014. The tail on this shit is looooong.
