Maxi - what a topical question. My oldest has just started engaging with the Harry Potter books. Mainly because one of her best friends had read it and let her borrow the series. I've never read them, so I don't have too much of an opinion on their actual quality. I suspect them being sort of classist, casually conservative, and partially racist; similar to a lot of classical English/British literature. My oldest seems to be enjoying them. She's a bit of a completist, so she is sure to finish the entire series.

I respect what so many others are saying in this thread. If its a true sticking point for you, it's worth the argument just not at the expense of ruining your relationship. For me, there's just so many other micro issues we are navigating on daily basis that I can't put extra energy into who and what Rowling is. I've expressed directly to my oldest daughter that the author is a purely rotten person. We didn't go into all of the gritty details. But, I feel we level set that position enough to keep it in her mind without ruining the experience of just being a curious elementary school kid.

Also, Huck Finn is a terrible book and it feel like it was only taught so us Blacks could hear our white classmates say the n-word out loud in group reading and learn our place.

I've been fascinated by The Sphere because its just so ridiculous that something like that would be built. It is an engineering marvel that exists to basically sell ads.

SUVs are not cool they are comfortable.

The Vegas Sphere is big, dumb cool. That is different from culturally cool. It's big and dumb and a laughable exclamation point to capitalism and a city that sits in a desert and really shouldn't exist.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is not cool it is great.
