If you are into a different kind soul crushing experience, you could easily pivot your skillset into the private sector (medical or finance!).

When my boss was on maternity leave, all this behavior really started (I was in charge at the time). When the boss returned from leave, the underlings (not me) complained to boss how this co-worker was acting crazy. When boss talked to her she flipped out, screamed, refused to accept what was being said, and accused everyone of plotting against her. Still employed!

Yes. I have weekly meetings with my boss and she's often cc'ed. She's aware but she's not yet reacting to how disruptive it is for me to do my job. I'm at odds about how to react. This woman has previously accused me (and the others I supervise) of plotting against her. And like I mentioned, she constantly gains my boss' sympathy. I need to figure out how to document how this behavior is affecting the whole department operation.

Let's see...

• Has several past incidents of meltdowns and flip-outs in office.
• Takes 90 minute lunch breaks/gym sessions daily.
• Falls behind on work; regularly drags on simple tasks.
• Actually declines work that I assign to her.
• Has accused me of not giving her "fun" projects (I actually started assigning her less work b/c she wasn't making deadlines)
• Regularly arrives late, leaves early or is absent randomly.

I manage what she works on but she doesn't directlly report to me (like I don't control whether or not she's employed). For whatever reason (age, personality?), she manages to get my boss' sympathy despite the mounting evidence that she is a terrible employee. It's really troubling too because she's mid-level and there are junior level people witnessing this in real time.

Guys I googled the latest Ilhan Omar controversy and wow I can’t believe I wasted my time. All these years, I should have known better.
