I know. My friend's daughter works in Boston in the federal prosecution office. She is considered essential. What is also essential is her rent. She is fortunate enough that her parents are willing to give her essentially a bridge loan.

Another thought... a lot of these federal employees are in a union. Why isn't the union providing some sort of nominal payment to them like many teacher's unions do when they are on strike?

This is exactly what should happen.

This government shutdown thing boggles my mind. Federal employees are going to get paid when it ends, but in the meantime, it causes financial strain for many. So if we are going to pay the employees anyhow, why not let them do the work they are being paid for?

Seems like there should be another mechanism when a budget cannot be agreed upon - one that impacts those who can't agree and force them to the table.

There is also an OUTSTANDING Kirkland Bordeaux from the St Emilion region of France. $16 down here in Fl - tastes far more expensive.

I'm happy to report that no animals were harmed that I witnessed and nor was I terrified by any animal in the last 24 hrs.

I thought they were a lavender marriage from the moment they wed. But they both need to lay off visits to the cosmetic surgeon stat.

Google tells me it is likely a Cuban tree frog. The description and photos check out. Body length (not legs!) around 2.5 inches. Invasive apparently.

Yes, they can be an issue. Where I live is essentially on the edge of the Everglades, despite only 3 miles from the Gulf.

1-3 of them show up in our community every year. There is a bounty on them, so they do get hunted pretty regularly

OMG. Adding to my list.

We do have some poisonous toads here that can kill dogs. So far, Roscoe doesn't seemed that enthralled by them. But I still keep him on a tight leash on hot, humid evenings when they are out and about
