Oh DQ.....I'm so so so very sorry. I wish I could run over and give you and your dad a huge hug. You were an amazing part of your brother's journey and I wish him peace. Death is just... yeah. Beyond words. Just go slowly. Do what feels natural at the moment. No expectations. Edit: Natural is debatable, I know. Nothing is natural right now.

Same with my agent friend in LI. She's having problem finding inventory because there are so many people interested in moving out of the city.

NYC had better get its shit together and figure it out. That said, there is a part of me that feels like we'll get through this. If it can pull through the 70s, then I have hope.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to this sooner. I had gone out about 9:30 - 10:30 pm. I knew it wouldn't be hopping or anything but I guess I didn't expect it would have been *so* deserted at that point of the evening. It may as well have been 1 am. (Edit: And this was in Grand Central Midtown.) I agree with your points. This has been brewing. My main thing is that a lot of all of them is the city's failure to help with comprehensive mental health services. Whatever that Thrive thing was, was a joke.

And you're correct. One thing 45 did teach me is that you have to get involved before it gets up to the federal level. By then, you're too late.

Man, it finally hit me how much NYC has changed in the past couple of years, nay, quite a few months. Just went for a walk because was getting claustrophobic from being in the apartment for days on end. And it truly gave me a frisson of danger the whole time. Ended up catching the bus back but wow. It is super dead now after hours and spooky. The Christmas rush was masking it but,... I ain't doing that again.

My doorman pleaded with me when I got back not to go out that late again either. With a lot of crimes having been downsized to misdemeanors, he was like do *not* go out at this time of night. Go to the roof if you have to. He also said that recently three businesses within my 2 block radius on the avenue have been already been robbed.

I don't know when we can come back from this.
