Imagine, if you will, finding a more benign way of saying Ignatieff is lying than, Mr. Ignatieff would seem to be mistaken.

"Everyone is born as clean as a white piece of paper. It is society that creates the environment which leads to crime."

I don't find this to be as remarkable a speech as Aaron. The political philosophy arising in the late 19th and early 20th century known as progressivism holds the central tenant that our environment shapes the being. To hear the above quote from a Progressive is not very remarkable, it is to be expected.

What also isn't remarkable is that the national PC party gave way to a political party which holds a more Burkean view of human nature. Canada had essentially three progressive parties with none serving the large number of Canadians that held a different, and equally legitimate, view of human nature.

What is remarkable to me is that some progressive Canadians still can't recognize that the central Canadian progressive consensus that dominated our 20th century is over. Though I give credit to those progressives seeking a united party to take on the Burkean party, at least they recognize that the re-alignment that occurred on the 'right' needs to occur on the 'left'

"re we really going to choose who represents us in our House of Commons by whatever those who represent us in hockey arenas have to say?"

C'mon, Canadians love hockey but they aren't gonna vote because of an old players endorsement, that'd be crazy. They will vote because they heard the name Fantino more times then the heard the name Genco.
