I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed with the answers you have offered in this thread. People on this site tend to be pretty polarized when it comes to their views and don't offer much give when something opposes them. You offer your opinion and then allow others' opinions to be expressed without immediately attacking and for that I would like to thank you. I am a Christian, but have also studied other religions as well as many philosophies. I applaud you for your open mind and sound opinions. Reading your comments made me think of the Republic. I appreciate that. Not one person in the last 4 years since I took Ethics in college has gotten the gears turning in my head like you have.
What is wrong with people? I just don't get it. There is nothing more interesting than history. It's the foundation for everything that goes on in the world. I personally would love to see your history lesson plan as well. Those who are ignorant of history are destined to repeat it. Some peoples kids!
I know, it's the weirdest thing I've ever seen too!
Haha! I agree. Though I think it a good thing that I can get an assault weapon I agree that the right/wrong yes/no situation is rather troubling. I don't know about watching closely people who attain assault weapons, I think that it should be rather easy looking for people who shouldn't have them. Who knows though. I will try to get one, I don't know if it will be a fully automatic though. As you probably know that even the military rarely uses fully auto (It's highly inaccurate) who knows what a fully automatic weapon in the wrong hands is capable of. Only time will tell. So far so good though.
I'm pretty sure that with a permit you can get one here. Let me check and make sure though.
Okay, apparently everyone misunderstood what I was trying to say. When I said that I don't want people to think that our government is what the Christian faith stands for I meant in terms of what this president is doing to our beliefs. i.e. abortion, etc. Why he gave a speech in a church I don't know. I have no control over where he gives his speeches.
I'm just saying that I don't want our government to play any role in the church. I want them to have no power over the church. I don't think they should make speeches in our churches period. As far as the college students that may be expelled for praying with a sick teacher, that turns my stomach. The guy that caused the uproar ought to be fired for disrespecting the student that was praying in my own opinion.
I completely agree with this. I never thought about it that way. The more I think about it that is kind of a double standard. Though I doubt he will ever admit that he was bowing.
That's exactly what I was trying to say and was slaughtered for.
