Relinquishing your child to the state is absolutely allowed by the parent is almost always charged with abandonment because of it. A safe haven law would hold the parent harmless from all prosecution so long as the individual surrendered has come to no harm.

That would be assuming an awful lot about me. I have surrendered a dog before because it was cruel to start a new job and work 10 hours a day with her left in a crate. I did it because I loved her enough to admit I couldn't care for her anymore.

I remember reading about that state's law and the subsequent news stories about parents giving up kids who were unruly or disobedient. While it was not perfect it was something and in a case such as yesterdays it would have made all the difference.

But I do agree with you about the need for more respite coverage for families raising individuals with special needs. I think both need to happen immediately.

A mother makes the choice to give up her child because it is in that child's best interest. It is the safest and most loving choice a mother could make at a time like that. Admitting that they are incapable of making the day to day decisions to keep both themselves and their child safe.

I would NEVER condemn a mother for making that choice. Not ever.

There is nothing to be worried about Krystal. These pics are parody and are allowed under fair use.

You'll be happy to know that when I did these last year there were a couple dad bloggers who used pics of their favorite ladies in place of Ryan....actually, they did both Ryan AND a female counterpart.

I seem to fall into the meh pit a bit too often lately.
