A word of caution. Given that this is not a sentiment he learned from you, and I would hope not from his teachers, he most likely is scripting. GL tends to recite scripts, some of them of unknown origin, at the most inappropriate times, and sometimes quotes things that would never be appropriate to say. Given that he often quotes things he doesn't understand, if he gets a strong reaction, even a strong negative reaction, he tends to repeat them more frequently, especially when he's frustrated or upset.

Some kids swear when they're upset. He would scream, "I'm going to kill you!" Something that, in the wrong situation, could get him killed. And staff at his school have apparently been trained to take every threat seriously, no matter how improbable. Anything we tried to discourage this habit only encouraged it. Since his last medication change, his anger has decreased in frequency and intensity, and this verbal habit has faded. I wish I knew how to extinguish these troublesome phrases. I can only hope this one doesn't come back during his next rash of angry outbursts.

Hey, Jillsmo, I just gave you an award that hasn't been passed around the blogosphere (like the cooties) until everyone's had it at least once. In fact, you're the first person to get it, because I just made it up. And you don't have to answer a bunch of stupid questions, or pass it on to anybody. All you have to do is visit my blog and claim the award. Then you can copy and paste the logo, and do whatever you want with it. Or if you don't want to post it on your blog, you can just leave a comment, so I know you read my post. K? Or just totally ignore me. Whatever.

Mmmm, bacon!

With fifteen years' experience as the parent of a child with autism, I can heartily say, "Yes, Yes, Yes! These points are all true, and exactly what parents of a recently-diagnosed child need to hear!"

OK. I'm trying my hand at the meme this week. I typed a caption on Quick Meme, but couldn't get it into my computer or my blog. I think I may have saved my caption to your photo. Sorry.

I went back and downloaded the picture from your blog, added a caption on my computer, and uploaded it to my blog, along with your button. Is that all, or is there another step that I'm missing?

We planned to have Easter dinner with my parents. BB woke up Easter morning with a sore throat and a fever. MB slept late, was up for a couple hours, then got such a headache she went back to bed. At least nobody was puking! My mom is immunocompromised, so we try not to expose her to anything. So it was just me, GL, and my parents for dinner. He actually ate a bite or two of ham and about a tablespoon of mashed potatoes! After dinner, he played on her computer, and we just hung out. So, if it helps, my Easter went better than yours.

Okay, I just posted it under "This one's for the dads." It appeared, but when I left that page and came back, i was missing. If it still doesn't work, can you just copy and paste the links from my post here: http://findmyaddress.blogspot.com/2012/03/autism-...

I use comment moderation, so no comments appear until I approve them. Spammers and trolls try once, don't get through, and go away.

Anyway, why didn't my comment with links to autism dad blogs show up? Should I try again?

Why would Ryan bother with undies? To avoid zipping himself. Trust me.

I posted a comment yesterday with links to some autism dad blogs, but it never showed up. Maybe it got caught in your spam filter?
