So I just turned 40. I feel ya.

I feel like I'm still, very much, "learning to be an adult". Yet I have two kids of my own, and there has been more time since I've graduated college, to today, than from when I was born until I entered college. When I go back to my alma mater, I go as a guest lecturer. They call me sir.

We won't talk about how my hair is more salt than pepper.

And my aches and pains - I can attribute those, usually, sometimes, so specific incidents of clumsiness - not "body getting old so it hurts." Truly, I don't feel old.

Yet I know I am.

If only we, as the adults, had that same ability to "just head back to bed" from time to time :)

CJ will play video games until he falls asleep (or the controller/iPad dies).

Leila enjoys a game or two on her iPad -- and she'll demand to play games on the XBox, but that's mainly to get attention from her brother -- she'd really prefer to act all artsy & stuff (and, truthfully, I absolutely encourage that). It worries me, however, when I can tell you just how long a controller will go on a full charge.

I don't know if I was happier to see The Good Dinosaur or just that, in seeing The Good Dinosaur, my daughter would stop talking about wanting to see The Good Dinosaur.

In any case, sounds like a wonderful holiday was had - despite Jell-O soup (says the guy whose sole responsibility was to "cut cheese" for Thanksgiving, which he seldom needs any help to do)

It's funny - when I get home, when I'm about in the morning, Benji DEMANDS to invade my personal space. But, if I happen to stay home when he's usually alone? He actually kind-of acts pissed off, like I'm getting in the way of his routine.

Always fun to hear/see someone. It's funny, whenever I read, I have a running dialog in my head, so I kind-of assign a voice to a person, whether or not I actually have heard them speak before.

Your voice was strangely spot-on.

I'm not sure when we're seeing The Good Dinosaur, but it MUST happen this weekend. In all honesty, I want to see it - but I more want to hear less from The La about seeing it.

I wish my kids would eat ANYTHING for Thanksgiving dinner. For the most part, getting them to eat anything at a big family dinner is...painful. And I just, kind-of, don't even bother. There will be dessert at some point - they'll get calories. And that's what's most important for a growing kid, right?

I'm SO THANKFUL that I don't need to pack lunches for the rest of the week.

This post made me happy :)

I'm not a big fan of linking to my own blog in a comment, but here's my own possum story: http://daddyrunsalot.com/2011/01/26/slightly-off-...

Coffee. Always coffee. Unless it's an ok time for wine.

I've never been able to get WordPress for my phone to work for me properly.

I've even started audiobooks on long car rides with the kids . . . the problem is that I can't exactly listen to the book that I might be in the middle of when I go somewhere with the kids -- so I usually have two going at the same time. At present, it's the "Girl with..." series for me & the Magic Treehouse series for the kids.

Every year, the trip to summer vacation marks the start of Harry Potter (read by Jim Dale).

For the longest time, I was doing butter in my coffee.

It used to be that it took a book to transport me to where I was, when I was there . . . if I read a book on vacation, just THINKING about the book will have me back on that vacation.

But Timehop does a pretty close approximation . . . and yeah, when the kids are small, well, it seems that EVERYTHING was either super-high-highs or "on the verge of calamity".
