That guy was a douchecanoe . I think it was funny that he'd diagnose someone on the internet... kind of like having factitious disorder by proxy. Which really is a thing.

It's not just a cautionary tell for drinking, Sunday, but how the ways we choose to deal with stress of raising kids with special needs. It can go so quickly from using a drink, a pill, a whatever to "take the edge off" of a life that's hard. But the problem is that it doesn't solve anything. I wish it did. I do. When you told us, I took a long hard look at how I am dealing with the stress- and it's not well. It shook me to my core. It changed the path I was on. You could have really saved me from the fate that you saved yourself from- handcuffs, losing the kids, etc.

You are brave. You are so brave. And you are strong. I don't think you have any idea how your being honest has helped other people. I know how much it's helped me and I love you for it.

Don't let the bastards get you down.

Perfect analogy. (without the ogy on that, it's 'perfect anal'). I see this in both the Down syndrome and autism communities. We can do our best so that there are accommodations made, just like crossing the street here, but the world isn't going to change to meet the needs of the minority. This has NEVER been the case.
