I'm not sure I understand your use of 2Tim 4:3-4 to this situation. Care to explain?

When I was in Africa on missions, this 'prosperity gospel' was THE biggest issue the church was facing while I was there. A false hope in wealth and materials, instead of faith and contentment in wherever God has you, can lead you incredibly far away from a real relationship with Christ.

The hardest part of this whole thing is the fact that people aren't being led to Christ. It's times like these, that when we get caught up in an issue or a personal vendetta, that the whole reason we have a church that we pastor is lost. Just plain sad!

"And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes." Mt. 7:29

THIS is the kind of teaching we're talking about bro. Potent preaching comes from men who are speaking what God gives them.
