Thanks for this. Some of these I hadn't heard before. I love the Björk quote so much, I put it on my Tumblr. ;D

"Feminism used to be one that desires and wants equal rights for woman and that is it, but it has grown to me much more."

What more has it grown to mean? Just wondering b/c I still define it as basic equality. Am I wrong?

People could be, in fact, missing his point. But PZ should clarify what he means not call them Ray Comfort, that one is purposely distorting his words.

It's weird because I agree with just about everything PZ says but I don't understand where he is going with this. I agree with you and I agree with him, in a sense. I believe that WHAT an atheist is and WHY one is an atheist are two separate questions, that may or may not intersect.

From his explanation, he is a Skeptic. Which I am, too. I come to my decisions from evidence-based criteria. I am an atheist as well, that's where the simply-stated 'no gods' thing rises from. I'm also a liberal (many atheists aren't). I'm also a humanist (ditto). That's why they is a word for all of these things.

I understand what PZ is saying but I don't understand why he's saying it. He says he is not trying to redefine the dictionary definition, so then what is he doing?

Is there any way to combat this propaganda? People soak it up like it's a valid news organization. Yet no amount of pointing it out will do any good. They will not listen to what anyone who is not associated with Fox News has to say. It's really sad actually. And until someone on or from the company gives the audience real honest information, there is no other way around it.

I agree. It's all what you teach them. Many schools aren't even that good at teaching students anyway. This way, you can make certain they are exposed to the very things that religious people wish to hide their kids from. It goes both ways.
