I like your idea:

*Anyone can do it
*It requires no big planning committee
*It will finally draw attention
*It will make a powerful impact
*It would do far more than a tea party or a ribbon or a bumper sticker

The simplicity is simply splendid.

You ask, "Are we willing to give up some of our day to day safety for less governmental interference in our lives?"
If we are willing, then citizens will have to step up, yes, but so will businesses like the airlines. Capitalism will find a way just fine to cover the safety issues.

I dunno. Narcissists with Hero/Savior Selves tend to think of everyone as their children. That allows them to make the decisions for everyone without consulting them.
