Thank you very much, livingengine. I'm still kicking myself a little, though. Did you have a similar experience? We'd better talk while ID is working!

I agree with you, MrsJ. ...Something fishy there.

I've had problems with comments appearing in the wrong places, under the wrong headings, and sometimes you can comment, sometimes you can't! It's anybody's guess with ID.

Well, you got a thumbs up from me. I agree with you, and the statement made by Lucretius. Guess I'll get dinged down, too, but that's my opinion. I also believe ANY circumcision, whether done to a male or female, in any form or 'severity', is wrong.

This is very true. These acts of terrorism are religious! The imams, and any muslim who follows his faith (terrorist or not) are united against unbelievers. The only option I can see is that we need to unite. Unite against Islam.

I agree - there is no guarantee of safety - anywhere. But...Westerners who travel to Muslim countries are obviously putting themselves directly in harm's way. I would not visit an islamic country, but I would definitely visit India if I could.

"If you want to cover, then cover. If you don't, then don't. That's the choice. Most Muslim women I know cover, some don't."

I have a question for you about Muslim women who choose not to cover. Are they discriminated against or pressured in any way to cover?
Also, what about women like the one I saw today, for example, who did 'technically' cover- (hijab, long sleeves, pants, etc) yet wore very form-fitting clothing, with a tiny, hot pink, tight bustier over the bottom shirt, an extensively decorated hijab in sequins (hot pink to match), and 4 inch spike stiletto heels? Also, she was wearing plenty of makeup and jewelry.
In your opinion, is that okay, or does it defeat the purpose ? This woman looked a lot sexier, and much less modest than the non-muslim woman next to her in jeans and a tee-shirt. I've been wondering about the obvious (to me) hypocrisy. By the way, I live near a heavily Muslim area, and this is not by any means uncommon. Neither are burkas.
