I don't have to worry about pulling out the step ladder and putting in a new battery for 10 years. Madison just started a new program that requires you to have smoke alarms with 10 year batteries in them. I would be annoyed at the regulation, except they also had a government grant to install them, so I didn't have to buy them. Five firefighters showed up at my house, and four of them installed the alarms for me while I showed the supervisor my stereo. Good deal.

Hey mzs.

Sorry to hear about your dad, but I'm glad he was close to the hospital and that he's on the mend.

I see you're posting your weight in your comments. What's your target?

Things are a little exciting in Madison. Our new governor is trying to dismantle the unions, and the republican legislators control both houses so on paper it would be easy to accomplish. But there have been some huge rallies on the Capitol square for the past three days, with the schools being closed because the teachers are calling in sick and coming to protest. And the Democrat senators didn't show up to vote today, and the republicans have called the police to round up the dems to make them come to vote (I guess there's not a quorum without the dems). It's pretty cool to see people united like that.
