Oh, I definitely did appreciate what Wakefield wanted to achieve with writing her story this way, and it certainly had its moments. But for me to REALLY love a book I have to feel that connection, and of course with such an unstable protagonist it was sort of like this outside-looking-in scenario. I loved following her descent and it is an eye opening kind of read, it just wasn't my favourite.

Thanks for visiting, Gab! <3 I absolutely adored it, and I may even have loved "Beatle Meets Destiny" even more! I can't believe it took me so long to get around to it. xx

Wintergirls has a similar writing style to "Shatter Me", which is so powerful and beautiful and heart-shattering. I liked that book, but didn't love it. I didn't realise at the time that you didn't have to enjoy a book to know that it's a good book. (This was back when I first started reading for pleasure... I thought that enjoyment amounts to a good book, and if I didn't "enjoy" it, then it wasn't a very good reading experience.) It explores the damaging effects that eating disorders have on young impressionable teens - they start to treat it like a game: one less pound means "I am strong". It's certainly not a verse novel, but I think it's a great book for people wanting to dip their toes in on their way to verse novels haha

Read some! They're a good, quick way to boost your reading count. ;) I love them and always feel drawn to a book when I find out it's a verse novel!

I think that it's so refreshing that Kasie West doesn't make the popular girls at school villains. I'm SO sick of that trope! I'm glad that you enjoyed this one, it sounds like a fun and quick summer read. :)

Seems interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I like books that aren't heavily romance-based, so this one might suit my tastes.

Aw, nice review. :) That GIF makes me happy too! Glad that you enjoyed this one even though it was a bit cliched. I still haven't read it, still psyching myself up to it!

Yeah, this one sounds pretty intriguing. I'm interested to see just how far in they delve into the ins and outs of that technology. Like if this is sci-fi or more of a contemp sort of story. I like the cover too.
