The 'old normal' has gone forever, even when we have a vaccine and perhaps eradicated Covid-19. Many businesses have been lost forever and thousands, hundreds of thousands, more will fail in the next year. Supermarkets will change too as more continue to enjoy home deliveries. We are going through a period of sea change and the sooner we realise it, the better.

Let the scientists and researchers get on with their work and eventually a vaccine and better treatments will be on stream.

The Government should be planning how to maintain and grow an economy under these new circumstances. A pre-Covid way of working will never return. Many more people will continue to work from home. City centre office space will not required as much, so that needs to be turned into housing. There will be fewer high street shops. Restaurants, cafes etc will bounce back eventually after many closures imposed by this Government. We will see an enormous change which means loss of revenue for the Government and Local Authorities with fewer paying business rates, and no doubt other knock on effects. Where will the new jobs come from?

The problem is who pays for the drastic measures. Will it be your Government, or the men and women who lose their businesses and the workers who lose their jobs?

Well, thousands died because of Johnson and Cummings' slow response at the beginning of the pandemic here, so I doubt if Burnham could beat the appalling record of your Government.

Well said. Boris doesn't understand the north and would probably struggle to pick out places like Manchester and Leeds on a map.

He is very effective and a lot of Conservative MPs in that area should be considering a career change in four year's time. Boris lost the PR contest yesterday.

The honeymoon period for this government has now passed and the only way now is down.
