As a conservative, I take issue with you trying to make this a liberal/conservative "thing". Is it possible that this is just a societal issue not a political one?

Is it possible that people consider this a large hometown rather than a small city?

If I'm not mistaken - wasn't Ms.Kathy Potts someone who sat on the Linn County Republican central committee, and ran for state house as a republican candidate? I think that'sGov relevant to the story considering she's a source attacking Gov.Culver.

It seems that the average police officer in the police department of cedar rapids are thorough , professional and courteous - and they work a thankless job - however for some reason the citizens have decided allow (or failed to prevent?) the city leadership (chief of police, city council) to focus on generating revenue (traffic stops, red light cameras, etc) and not crime. Additionally, there seems to be this mis-assigned blame assigned to "people from chicago" - not the rise in unemployment, and the continued meth-amphetamine drug problem. As citizens we have the power to make our city government focus on the things that are important to us. As cheesy as it is "We have the power" and thus only ourselves to blame.
