So much for "Justice for All"... perfect example of how our judicial system can be manipulated by legislators/representatives to stack the deck against our marginalized citizens... Braindead obviously believes paying bills is pointless, and poor people are not "citizens"...

very serious actually... thanks for asking.

Looking at historical milestones in wage increases, the actual price increases were much lower in % than the wage hike... people still got raises, candy bars didn't triple in price overnight, etc...

Pulling your own weight also includes PAYING TAXES! Our country is deep fiscal trouble, partly due to obscene tax breaks/loopholes for the biggest earners (corporations)... tax rates are lower today than they were 10 years ago... Clinton's higher tax rates ushered one of the strongest growth periods in this nations history. $$$ is needed for the gov. to do things like fix roads, build schools, pay cops, and feed poor people - don't forget we also need to buy guns for our decade long wars. Which reminds me... have you looked up how much the wars have cost this country since 2002?

Good... I'm all for strict market regulation and closing of corp. tax loopholes too... If our gov. is more effective, it will yield a greater value for dollar, thus not being "overpriced" anymore. Also raising minimum wage to meet the new pricing points on all commodities... like to $14 an hour or so... greater tax revenue, tighter financial/market regulation... all will be good and prices will stabilize.

and not tax loopholes, and ridiculously overpriced commodities due to knee-j e rk speculation, record corp. earnings and unregulated markets ?

It's very dangerous to force the law enforcement community to rely on "revenue generating" to continue providing service... On one end, it does pay bills, but on the other end it creates an incentive to incarcerate people that would otherwise be left alone. This is no different than the "non-existent" quotas.

It removes the impartial position and forces the sheriff/PD to act like a business... and we all know businesses are not impartial.

I didn't know that, so it isn't that well known... If you wish, we can have a discussion about how/what/when this "culture" you speak of started. I'll be happy to begin the discussion with some references to public sales of people for work, in the first two century of this country. I'll also discuss the mas s agricultural worker migration from the south, to the north in the early 20th century. I'll also be happy to reference some stellar social policies/programs/injustices that contributed to the current situation... but those programs are not welfare... welfare was a response to children/people starving.

that's the fault of the cashier, anywhere it occurs. If the establishment/store is caught doing anything like that, hefty fines ensue.
