Man, it's like he has been studying at the Charlie Sheen School of Interviews.

I will never stop loving this guy though.

Heading to SXSW this week and can NOT FOCUS at work. Thinking about sunshine and margaritas. Happy my bosses are such confused individuals because I decided to sneak in an extra day to my vacation this morning, as I knew there was no way they'd remember when I said I'd be gone. Heh. It totally worked.

If you happen to find somewhere where these so called "sane people" work, please let me know. I am in the market for a job at that place as well.

CORPORAL CUDDLING. My cat tolerates my forced snuggling because that bitch remembers what it used to be like, out there on the streets before I took his furry butt inside and cleaned out my bank account with a vet checkup and ball-snipping. Call me crazy, but I'd living in a van down by the river before I would EVER give my cat up for adoption. As someone who has worked with animals my whole life (and rescued many of them as well), I couldn't live with myself if I gave up an animal for any other reason than say, my own death.

Excellent work, Lady_E!! A superb interview.

Abraham Lincoln FTW!!!

Ok, on a serious note, I guess I have some questions about the whole RtW thing. I completely understand the notion of "Right to Work (for less)" and employees being offered lower wages for not being in a Union, which is crappy. But I also would be super upset if I needed a job but was essentially denied the position because I didn't want to join a union and shell out extra money for dues (that I didn't have, for sake of this argument) every month or annually. And lets say I knew nothing about this union to begin with; I am not going to put my money into an organization whose members or activities I don't know much about.

I guess this is coming from the fact that where I grew up in southern PA, many people worked factory line jobs, and many workers were members of labor unions. But across the board I heard nothing but horror stories about the internal corruption of those unions. When my younger brother got a night job working at a cabinet factory, he was approached by a group of union members, pressuring him to join (and of course, he was like 19 and knew nothing about who they were or what they did) and was treated like crap to the point of voluntarily leaving his job when he declined their membership.

So...I guess I'm saying that I don't fully understand why the RtW legislation is that bad. Maybe you lovely folks have some insight or opinions to help me flesh out my thoughts about all this.

I have to say, Subway is THE only "fast food" restaurant I ever consider eating at. The fact that I know I can get a veggie sub (with EVERY vegetable they have, which is awesome), with maybe a little cheese and lots of brown mustard (sorry mayo, not interested!) on a whole-wheat roll has saved my hungry ass in many an airport or neighborhood with no other places to get a "healthy" meal. And the veg sub is always the cheapest one on the menu, which makes my wallet happy too.

I am also looking forward to future installments, particularly the organ donation one as well. I registered as a full body organ donor (or whatever the technical term for it is) in NY state, so they can filet me up and save someone, or hopefully teach people a thing or two. When I informed my mother about this, she was very, very unhappy about it.

Call me callous, but I absolutely find funerals and preserving the dead to be 100% ridiculous and selfish. You want to pump your loved one full of chemicals waste a bunch of money so you can (maybe) feel some closure? Everybody dies, them's the breaks. If you cannot emotionally handle thinking about someone you love being dead right this very minute, you need to find a therapist to talk about it with.

I guess this is such a touchy subject for me since everyone in my family - except my father who has stated proudly that he is looking forward to death - is so crippled with fear of the inevitable that they break down when anyone, even 98 year old Aunt Edna, passes on. And then they act like I'm inhuman because it doesn't bother me. I have friends who, every year on the anniversary of the death of a loved one, make a huge spectacle of weeping and getting drunk for a week straight, even though it's been five years since the incident. Yes, I understand everybody grieves in their own personal way, and maybe I'm being an asshole. :(

Regardless of that assholery, I'm extremely thankful for these articles. Thanks, Booboo!

Happy Monday! I have reason to celebrate because I only had THREE insane emails from my boss sent at various times past midnight this weekend, instead of the usual ten or so messages. One of them was about company email signatures, one about blowing up some images to 3' x 3' size to hang from the ceiling (for reasons I can't get him to elaborate on), and the other asking me to do something he asked me to do last week that I already completed four days ago. Wheeee!

I keep thinking about how badly I want to do Christopher Bale with that beard and then realize it's because my bf is sporting the same hair lately. Hm.
