I think that if the rules will be changed, then, there should be a huge contest open to the students to choose a new name and then the state should pay for every penny that it costs to make the changes.

Property tax rates in Douglas County are in the lowest 5 of any county in Oregon. You get what you pay for and you pay for what you care about.
I can't agree that what has happened to this family is in the past or should not be considered. My bet is that the past was everything to Mr. Condon. He was likely a second victim to the first horrible crime and as brave and classy as he was, I don't think was allowed any peace in his life. There are no words for them, but, I am so sorry and sad.
It seems to me that justice could have been served without sending Mr. Gilbert to prison especially if he was going to be able to make the required restitution. My bet is that plenty of others were complicit while the going was good. I can't help but compare this to the dirty dealing that was happening on Wall Street at the time and I wonder how many of those folks received 3 year prison sentences. Not many...
