And how much younger than 18 was the person these kids were selling to?

Might just be me, but I see a huge difference in selling to a 11 year old at the park opposed to selling to their 17 and a half year old friend from school. I imagine this "Cla.ss B Felony" charge was meant for the former.

Am I the only one who think this sounds a lot like charging someone multiple times for the same offense?

You don't give someone a parking ticket, and then charge them for a parking pa.ss violation, possession of an illegally parked car on a street, two counts of owning a car that is parked illegally, etc. Sounds a bit ridiculous, no?

Hate to break it to you, but it's not solely a liberal attitude to use the "I didn't go to school for 8 years so you could call me Mr." line. Overinflated egos seem to be a common occurrence in the academic world, regardless of political ideology.

As for the professor's response... That was unacceptable, especially towards a student organization. If she found it offensive or simply a poor representation of the school, she should have notified the professor who moderates the group or gone higher up the ladder if that didn't work. Something tells me that she wouldn't have to go far to find support in Iowa City.

True. I suppose if the debate is simply over the school issue my comment was out of place. I just saw that someone was actually defending this guy... And even if what he did with his children's tuition was perfectly legal/acceptable, that wouldn't change anything about the man's character.
