In '72 George McGovern pledged to give every American $1000.00 (big money back then) which he referred to as a Demogrant. The promise was considered so liberal in the extreme that it was taken out of the Dems' platform but was still one of the reasons he got trounced. In the span of ten presidential elections, now half of America gets some sort of government check. Dick Morris may have missed on this election but he nailed it on the head when he mused this morning "This is not your fathers' America."

As difficult as it is given the fact I drive a long ways to work, I'm willing to pay higher gas prices if it will help elect us a new POTUS. Sort of like what libs tell me about paying higher taxes.... that it's my patriotic duty.
