The thing I love most about Maree is that she's such a full person with such a strong personality, if someone told me they met her in the street I'd believe it 100%.

YES! Both books are amazing (in very different ways) but Doomsday is definitely the one that hits you hardest. And lots of time travel, which will always delight Mark.

Benedict Cumberbatch as ginger Master no. seven. Moffat, make it happen.
As for this episode, I only watched it after three people told me too, despite having read the complete Sherlock Holmes collection. So, having read A Study in Scarlet, this proved to be a thing of beauty form moment one.
Martin Freeman manages to do John Watson, Army Surgeon, justice, something most adaptations forget to do - he survived a war people, he's not a bumbling fool. Freeman is now Arthur Dent, John Watson and Bilbo Baggins - why so few people know of him? Or is it only the people I know? How cute was he in Love Actually?)
Since you already talked about Cumberbatch, I just want to say I absolutely love how they modernized the book. It's close enough that you can see where it's come from - the culprit is really obvious the moment the cab appears - but it's still compelling, since it changes the motivations. I loled when Sherlock slammed that guy for suggesting Rache was German. It also doesn't ignore modern technology as so many attempted modernizations do, but uses it as an advantage.
Err... sorry for the rambling, I usually just lurk, don't know how to comment properly. *fleesandhides*

The obvious solution is having Benedict be the Master to Matt's Doctor, maybe in Series 7 (there is no way he won't ever be back. I refuse to believe it).
It'd be even better if he kept his natural hair, because then the Doctor would be incredibly jealous that the Master gets to be ginger and he doesn't.
