In the book I read, Farmer was the traitor who framed Beka's mentor.

...What, that didn't happen on the page? Yes it did.

No water. Dry rocks and dry throats,
Then thunder, a shower of quotes
From the Sanskrit and Dante.
Da. Damyata. Shantih.
I hope you'll make sense of the notes.

Mount Airy doesn't come up often on these lists, but it's reasonably priced, friendly, and has easy access to transit and culture.

Both of these are excellent recommendations. C.S. Lewis, The Allegory of Love (1936), is a classic - now superseded by 80 years of research, but as an overview of courtly love as a concept, it might be worth reading.

Would absolutely read both of these, immediately.

*shudder*

(I saw about half of the Last Unicorn film when I was five. I screamed too hard and my grandparents turned the film off. The Red Bull took up residence in my nightmares, and stayed there at the back of my subconscious until I found the Peter Beagle book at age fifteen, at which point my jaw dropped hard, because I thought I'd made the whole story up.)

Which is to say, your post would be literal nightmare fuel.

I would love that. I missed it because I had not met my grading quota, and then this morning I felt really, really bad about not having turned up.
