When I found out I had progressive MS I realized that I had better get going on my childhood goal to be a writer. I was already a technical writer, but I wanted to be more than that. I discovered Nicole via her Tumblr when I googled "two deaf mutes at a funeral" to check the quote and discovered that she was a kindred spirit. We had read all the same books! There were other people in the world who liked what I liked!
I've read the Toast from the very first day in a state of awe and delight. I never anticipated that one day I would write for this site and that would lead to writing at other places, but best of all I never anticipated getting to know my fellow Toasties. I've made real friends here and for that I cannot say thank you enough. Thank you, Mallory, for accepting my first piece and saying it was beautiful. You have no idea what that meant to me. Thank you, Nicole, for publishing my silly pieces and helping me impress my kids. Thank you, Nikki for telling me each finished piece was " wonderful", and editing my work so beautifully.
But most of all, thank all of you for making the world a better place for three years.
I can hardly wait to see what all of us do next.

Nikki, I'll miss you replying to my submitted pieces:"This is wonderful!" even though you probably said that to all the writers because you are so nice.

The Toast is a special place; here I felt understood.

"Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment that was known as Camelot.".
Except substitute the Toast for Camelot.

At first I thought this was me:

"You long to go on an adventure, but only so long as the adventure is not in any way uncomfortable or inconvenient."

But I realize that this is me instead:
"You are a member of a wonderful fellowship of diverse people united by love and loyalty, but soon it must come to an end. And when the world you know begins to fade away, at long last you will go to the shore and board a ship, and take to the Sea."
