Why did I bother writing a dissertation on 19C British novels when I could have just read this?

I've loved this series on every level, but as a final thought I want to say that I even love it on a syntactical level--of COURSE a meat packing professional would overuse the passive voice, indefinite pronouns, etc*, because ze is accustomed to professionally dissociating zir agency.

*indicates that I can't remember the right terms for various syntactical/ grammatical structures

Oh my heart just went *ouch* when I read that. I think just reaching out to her in whatever way you can to let her know that you're thinking about her. Phone call, email, text message--maybe saying that she doesn't have to respond, but you just want to let her know how much you're hurting for her and that you're going to keep checking in on her?

I was really looking forward to Open Thread today because I'm FINALLY back at my computer and in love with our new house/ city/ life, but instead it's just :'( :'( :'( :'(

Also we might have to fire our nanny, which sucks.

Oh my god this is the worst news ever but I understand and I'm glad that, if it has to end, it's ending this way.

Threads are a bit long and confusing but I would gladly flee to any sort of Toast Refugee option.

Heyyy Salt Lake City Toasties (COUGH Nicole): I'm going to be hanging out there with my in-laws and my spawn for a few days next week while my husband drives across the country with the car and the animals before our final stop in Boise. Anyone want to meet up for either an adult or child playdate?

Yes! I just finished the Chernow biography, and there was a touching description of him sleeping with one of his little kids in his arms the night before the duel. I definitely got the impression that he was a good father, especially for the time.
