Looking for recommendations
A friend of mine is looking for book and tv show recommendations for her 9yo son. She has requested media with little/no violence, but also non-adversarial.
I have suggested the first four Circle of Magic books (Tamora Pierce), but turn to the collective knowledge of this group for more ideas.

2) If/when they tell you to eat something beforehand, do it! I either didn't eat enough or ate too early, but they had to stop pretty early on in the process and sent me across the road to get a burger before they could proceed. After that it was much easier. At least, that was my experience.
