Last year I didn't even watch the final episode. I was so frustrated with DS that I didn't care who won. I hated so much about the show last year that I said I would never watch again. But when I heard that David was mentoring the contestants, I decided that I will give it one more chance.

Things I still don't like about this year are:
no viewer vote for the winnner, only for an online show;
no Clive Pearse;
still the same 3 judges that were awful last year.

Things I don't want to see:
abstract challenges;
bickering and backstabbing drama in the residence;
carrying their suitcases to the elimination.

I hope they learned from the huge mess they made last year. It looks like they realized their mistake in not having a host. But they really need to bring back Clive and not make Tanika the host.

All 3 were awful as judges last year.

David should make a good mentor. But I've seen Tanika on HGTV'd, and she's cute and perky, but no Clive. She's more along the Paige Davis mold, which is fine for the HGTV'd. But DS really needs someone like Clive.

I'm wondering if the same producers are doing the show this year? Mark Burnett ruined DS last year, so I hope he's not back.

I agree with you dee. I want to know how to make my house look better.

They really need to change Design Star back to what it originally was, and also bring Clive back.

If you look at Facebook, over 90% of the remarks about DS are negative. You'll find a few remarks with "Design Star rocks" or something else very generic but positive. They never say anything specific about the show, or why they think it "rocks." Those people seem to be going for getting their remarks on TV.

I do not want to watch a reality show about an interior design business. I find all those "behind the scenes" moments to be boring. Why would I want to watch the mundane moments of a person's job? I want to watch design shows that give me ideas for my own home, and show me how to complete those designs.

DIY is much more interesting now than HGTV. I used to watch HGTV all the time, but not any more.
