If landlords get the $8,000 credit for homes they don't live in, I will be REALLY IRED! ( I'm currently just very ired). It should only go to people who can prove residency and only for their primary mortgage. If people take advantage of me and you and get this stimulus for other reasons, they are just minni versions of Maddoff!
That's a good thought. I always consider 10000 as the baseline also. I'm just waiting for Obama to take credit for this blip upward since he has beaten Bush into the ground for the mess he "inherited" like I said earlier today, Obama can't take legitimate credit for this blip as his money hasn't even been printed yet. This was due to the first stimulus proposal from Bush.

Hubby and I are both caretakers of our moms. We go to a caretakers support group that has given us much valuable info. One evening a lawyer came to talk to us about this subject. She gave so many free pointers, she saved my mom (a woman of modest savings) an attorney fee. She said in WI if you keep your estate under 100 grand, you don't have to file probate. Someone simply has to go file a paper with the court to show how the estate was closed out. She also said put POD (payable upon death) on all Certificates of deposit, but cautioned to put every name you want to pass your money to on every CD. That way if you have to cash one, you won't leave someone out by mistake because you cashed one with a sole name on it, while the other CD's were left with other people's sole names on them. Great idea. That's what we did with her proceeds from her home sale. Everyone with aging parents should help them look into their options here. Look up the laws for your state when people die intestate (without a will) if necessary.

Palin didn't put the earmarks in the bill, she's just on the receiving end. Give her some time to decide if she is going to join the governors who are refusing the help. Perhaps some of them are to help develop the energy we could be getting from Alaska instead of buying more from the Middle East. I don't know.
