"Finns."

I'm not sure what sort of history books you've been reading, but quite frankly, they sound pretty terrible.

You take your "facts" and "logic" somewhere else, we're having a good old-fashioned rabble here.

Ah, politics.

The DoD proposes budget cuts, and people scream about how Obama is gutting the military (and not, y'know, cutting things we arguably don't need.)

The DoD runs a large-scale exercise (to, you know, prepare for war) and suddenly Obama is planning a secret war against "conservatives."

I remember this one time when people used to assess current events in light of their actual significance, and not make snap judgments based on their political leanings. Good times.

Nah, I think it's as ridiculous now as I did back in 2008. And 2004.

I don't have any way to disprove your credentials, but I'm skeptical.

Then again, I guess if Jack Thompson can be a lawyer...

Exactly.

Defense cuts happen - under GWB, the US shut down two entire ICBM squadrons, comprising 100 missiles, and who knows how many warheads. One of those squadrons was the only one still operating the Peacekeeper, our most advanced ICBM ever. Why? Simply because they weren't needed any more.

But for some reason, it's okay when a guy in red makes the decision, but the END OF THE WORLD when a guy in blue does it.

Would you care to back that up with some actual articles, and not just a ridiculous interpretation of the preamble (which is not legally authoritative)?

I don't think that's entirely illogical, given that we spend 60% of our tax dollars on national security and the remaining 40% is divvied up between everything from the Department of Energy (who, among other things, owns our nuclear stockpile) to NASA to the Department of Transportation.

Interesting, I didn't know that.
