Right. But war is good and all that. Support our troops dying for some reason. Got it.
Both Bush and Obama make me sick.

Myth. They send US dollars to Mexico, which are then... Absorbed somehow? No. They're exchanged for pesos or whatever and spent wherever US dollars are accepted: the US. Further, illegal immigrants paid nearly 8 billion in income taxes last year. In addition, because property taxes are paid by home owners and passed down to renters-- and illegal immigrants rent-- they pay property taxes. Meaning they pay for the schools.

This isn't even to speak of the fact that it's a WILLFUL ECONOMIC TRADE. Remittances are funded through a private willful transaction. If I buy a car from you (I give you money that you want more than the car and you give me a car that I want more than the money) I can do whatever the hell I want with that car. If we're going to start nitpicking what people do with their money (and/or making it a national policy discussion) then let's talk about the billions Americans send to the porn industry; TV & Entertainment industry-- shouldn't we be feeding the poor and all that? We can argue moral excess, we can argue that money's 'wasted' on drugs, we can argue (and we do, unfortunately) that the food we buy doesn't have the right daily percentage of sodium. As if you can spend it better than them.

And all that's not to mention the fact that an automatic strawberry-picking machine doesn't make sense in the context of a plethora of cheap labour. Make labour more expensive and it will likely be replaced by technology.

The economic reasons to be pissed off about immigration just do not hold water. Nationalistic? Fine. Racist, even? Fine. Just don't pretend that there's a logical base for your position.

Kinda like how your parents scammed you in by letting you be born on this side of the line. Good show.

The fact that he recognises that morality and legality are often mistakenly conflated posits that he's a thinker, and has the potential to be a great father.

It's hard to know quite what to say, however, about your suggestion that he's a 'horrible father.' The hate that your position breathes is exactly why the media and liberals have such an easy time crying 'racist.'

Social asset-- my marriage doesn't owe society anything beyond the chance to stabilize my tiny slice of it.
Legal contract-- to each other. My wife doesn't need my SSN to 'do business with me' and I doubt that's been a concern for any member of a couple reading this.

Sometimes, even Libertarians and (more often) Republicans mistakenly think that more government is the answer.

Because we're arguing about whether they were born on one side of a line versus the other should allow them to have their marriages recognized. No one has even raised the point that they could plausibly go to any other country, get married, and have a streamlined path to citizenship if they wanted.

Reverse racism, something sabian isn't apparently aware of, is unfortunately alive and well. However, if you rephrase your query more semantically, you get '…why it's not racist when Mexicans…' which is obvious: Mexican is not a race.

Re: Taxes-- taxes are confiscatory. If the mafia robbed you more than it robbed your neighbor, would that be a good reason for forcing your neighbor to move? Assuming you somehow figure out how taxes are moral (one argument would be that the government is ordained by God, though that unfortunately raises a number of other serious problems), it's been stated that illegal immigrants pay arguably only constitutional taxes: apportioned taxes like the sales tax. Further, any work they do *adds* to society; it is an asset.

Re: Rights-- You like America. I like America. Let's see how America stands on this issue: "We hold these truths to be self-evident [not granted by the state, but protected from the state] that all men [not just citizens] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator [again, not their state] with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

It could be argued that marriage does not fall under 'unalienable Rights,' but last I was concerned, a marriage is a religious tradition that has been sort of corrupted and sucked into law (a good reason for the separation of Church and State), and so I am not convinced.

Re: "Become a citizen": How? It is nearly impossible for most to immigrate legally. The entire process, if one even makes it through-- much less one's family-- takes anywhere from 10 to 15 *years*. You're either not married or aren't being true to yourself; how long did you wait for your wife? You think waiting 10-15 years for some bureaucrats to file paperwork is a viable solution to this problem?

…And then the price of those goods would increase, causing that sector to shrink accordingly, leading to layoffs or lower wages again. The market balances-- you know that, watchman. Last I checked, the invisible hand wasn't limited by borders.

"Animals."
Wow. For being born on the wrong side of an imaginary line. I'm all for law and order, but that's because I'm not into the whole 'animal' thing… Not despite it.

No, the attitude. The comment is the speech that conveys the attitude, and people are sick of it. Rob Bliss does something fun, and all anyone can do is sit in their armchair and call him an idiot. Maybe he is, but if the only response people can expect when they attempt to fix something that's wrong is mockery, they'll just go someone else where it isn't wrong to begin with.

(To your other points, though, absolutely. I'd actually say your list is a bit short)
