I travel far and wide with a DivaCup in the last 10+ years of my using one. I just give it a quick wipe with a little toilet paper and it's good to go. Even when not travelling I only wash mine once a day (while I'm in the shower) - my work toilets are all cubicles with communal sinks, and a lot of NZ houses have the toilet separate from the bathroom, and there is no way I'm gonna waddle between rooms to wash it πŸ˜‚

Also never had a problem swimming with it, including fun things like jumping off cliffs, or doing many tumble turns while swimming lengths.

Yes experience, but not a positive one! I had been on a road trip for hours, then got to destination and instead of using the rest room right away, I went and played on their trapeze. ...yeah.... hanging upside down itself was fine, but the pressure changes in getting back the right way up/off the trapeze must have been enough to break the seal. πŸ™…πŸ™…πŸ™…

I have my PADI Advanced Open Water - I did my OW here in NZ, first at a local swimming pool then shore dives from a sheltered fiord bay for the open water dives. Beautiful, but bloody cold even in a good wetsuit.

Did my AOW on a dive trip in Tonga - there was me and one other guy doing our AOW together, and everyone else was like Rescue Diver cert or above, so it felt like a super safe environment with so many ppl to learn from and buddy with. Plus OMG Tonga has some spectacular diving! So many pretty things to see, and fun swimthroughs, and we got to lie in the sun on top of the boat during our surface intervals. Plus I feel with boat dives I don't use up all my energy just getting to/from the dive site.

Both of these were SUPER CHILL though, and really enjoyable. I did feel a bit uncomfortable with the amount of drinking that the dive company guys did when they were still diving the next day, but that's pretty standard from what I've seen of the industry!

I've done a fair amount of solo travel, and there is a lot of joy to be had in it! Seattle would be really cool for you, or San Francisco? Good public transport and museums are my two main needs when I'm travelling alone :)

Here in Aotearoa New Zealand, it's one of like the strictest holidays of all stat holidays - shops that do open get huge fines!

I used to work in the deli section of a supermarket, and we sold tongue set in gelatin along with the luncheon meat and shaved ham. The old ladies who kept coming back to buy it sure enjoyed it (however this vegetarian was not willing to try)
