Yes, I *think* the expected rate would be 5 people. And this 6 in 6.8 million is approximately 1/1000th the rate of people who develop blood clots while taking hormonal contraceptives.

I don’t know if the FDA’s decision is wrong, but the reporting on it really needs to emphasize that it’s precautionary and there has been no determination that the risk of clots outweighs the benefits of preventing COVID even for young, healthy people.

I shared this yesterday (?) on my Facebook page because it’s true public health in action! Crescent Care is a fantastic organization with a true PH background (they came out of the early AIDS crisis) and have been doing it right since the start of COVID. Service industry peeps need the shot and this is a great way to get it to them, one and done.

I was thinking the other night too about how he was one of the only people who defended her when her scandal happened. Considering that he didn’t seem like the kind of person who made actual friends in Congress, certainly not members of the other party, it seemed really odd at the time.

Not exactly the same, but this is reminding me how New Orleans narrowly avoided having the I-10 Expressway go right through the riverfront of THE FRENCH QUARTER in the early 1970s. The planners eventually scrapped the idea, and as is no surprise, the next choice was to run it through a vibrant historically black neighborhood lined with live oaks. The same neighborhood has never recovered economically or in terms of community. The last mayor talked about taking the elevated expressway down and having the corridor return to street-level where it passes through the city, and there seemed to be some traction for the idea, but I haven’t heard a peep about it since the end of his term. Urban planning, man.
