How many points of kills did the Helldrake get versus its points cost?

Yeah these Dexes don't seem especially mouth watering AND they are coming out quickly. This brings me to the same conclusion as you: they are getting everything more 'even' this edition.

I don't know if I'd give Vetock & Ward great laurels in Codex writing. Although I admit that you were talking subjectively.... :D

Ward wrote SM, BA, GK, Necrons. In 5th, the consensus was that BA were certainly stronger than SM, although this lead has been knocked on the head in 6th. GK were VERY powerful, and have only come back because of 6th, but are still very strong. Necrons seem to be on par with GK.
So within the edition those books were written in, there seems to be quite a difference in Ward's ability to be able to balance his own Dexes against one another. It was only a change of edition that made SM and BA even-stevens [or near enough] and curbed GK.

That doesn't seem to be very good writing, to me. If he is in Tier 1 [1 being the current best tier] then that really says something about Tier 2 & 3!!!

Vetock, I'm not sure he is very good either. Tau are excellent, for sure. In a shooty edition, a shooty Codex will naturally do well. But DA seem to have been forgotten VERY quickly! Is that all he has written for 40K? A beige one and a good one is still just a so-so score from me.

Kelly isn't great, for sure.

Much dead wood in SW. If you weren't spamming Grey Hunters, Missile Fangs and a Rune Priest, you were doing it wrong. That is very little choice!

Orks were as bad with Nob Bikers, Deff Rolla Wagons or Nobz mob.

Deldar were reasonable, until melee was been taken out as an option to shooting in 6th, and then the general nerf to all vehicles that came along with it. Not good for a very vehicle dependent army XD.

I'd just put all three of these guys in the okay-to-good category :P
