Agree completely. Hope they offer Hillsboro residents first crack at season tickets. I'll be there for sure!

I'm bemused at the TD's. Have I not given BOTH nations the benefit of the doubt? I understand that there are religious implications, but I ask you: Is that NOT the Christian way? "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us?"

No, I am not on a high horse. I simply remember that, for all it's divine inspiration, the Bible boils down to two basic concepts, as told in Mark 12:28-31:

28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Jesus said it- said it specifically to Israel. I believe it. TD me all you want. But if you give up your religious beliefs to remain in the Holy Land, what have you gained?

Would I be nervous? Yes, and I can understand if Israel is nervous. But would I demand military action? Would I set the terms of success for a multinational meeting I'm not involved in?

But I'll give Israel the benefit of the doubt. I'll give them a clean slate as of today, and look to their actions in the near future as an indication of their peacefulness. Fair enough for you? Should they pursue a fair and legal recourse, then so be it.

Could-bes, mights, and suppositions. Should we risk American lives on such things? If you 'believe' that they are enriching Uranium for weapons, show me some evidence. Let me show you the other side of this coin "Suppose" that it IS for medical and power purposes. Does Israel then have the right to demand Iran agree to halt all uranium enrichment, ship its current stockpile of enriched uranium out of the country and dismantle an underground enrichment facility? Doesn't Iran have as much right to pursue peaceful progress as any other nation?

In 1967, we backed Israel in it's fight against aggressive Arab nations bent on it's destruction, and we worked out a peace accord. Today, Israel is the aggressor. It doesn't care if it's actions in Gaza violate treaties. It's not concerned with whether or not an attack on Iran would be LEGAL. It wants what it wants when it wants it.

That's the very definition of the ID in psychology. And like the ID, the word 'no' is not in Israel's vocabulary.

Maybe the GOP hasn't seen the latest polls:

The Republicans keep alienating those people that they SAY they're trying to woo. Where I live, that's known as 'Lip Service'. From where I stand, the R's have spent the week trying very hard to lose my Independent vote.

I'm sorry, you're correct. I should have quoted my source: gbeaonline.org. I notice that this has been removed from the main page, but if you click on "Read the notes from past bargaining sessions - 4/23/12", you'll find it verbatim. http://www.gbeaonline.org/Barg Web 4-23.pdf

Or are you telling me that gbeaonline.org would engage in misinformation? The information was correct as of the posting time. If you've (GBEA collectively) changed your mind, that's not my concern.

Here's a list of the teacher's demands, along with my personal commentary
Here's a partial list of what the teachers want, along with my personal commentary on each:

What the GBEA's proposal does:

Requires that incidents of assault and battery are investigated by an administrator.
**assault and battery as defined by WHOM, exactly?**
**Thought so**

Requires that a defined safety plan be in place prior to a student's return to the classroom.
** SO you would delay a student's ability to return to class until YOU are satisfied that student should have access to an education**

Allows that members who work with physically aggressive and/or combative students receive equipment necessary to keep them safe.
**Right, let's hit the taxpayers up for more money for equipment**

Requires that members who work with medically fragile students are fully informed and trained.
** Again, who's definitions are we using, and where are the funds coming from?**

Allows members who work with medically fragile students to appeal to the special services team when the current care plan is deemed to be impractical.
** At the risk of sounding redundant... define "Impractical".**

During the Elementary six non-student days, four hours would be reserved for prep time.
** Right, because 3 months of the year is not nearly enough time for that. And if you're factoring that in, then I'm boosting your base salary by 25% to accomodate the difference, for the basis of determining future raises, including COLA. **

Combines Middle School and High School language together regarding protected prep time. This means that High School teachers will have a daily prep period, and 300 additional minutes of prep outside of the student instructional day; just like current Middle Schools.
** Take as much extra time as you need. However, as a taxpayer, I pay you to teach, not prepare to teach. I don't paid for the time I take getting ready for my job either.**

Members will not be assigned to substitute for an administrator or perform administrative duties.
** Right. No sense being a team player**

Members shall not be held responsible for students personal property.
** I have no issue with this, so long as the property wasn't taken from the students**

Notice to the GBEA: THE COW IS DRY!

It doesn't matter what was discussed. It looks bad. When you enter public life, your personal life becomes the public's business.

These four City Council members deserve all the negative publicity that befalls them. At the very least, they're guilty of questionable judgement. Not something you want in an elected official.

Sure, but Oregon state law says that you have to exhaust all other avenues before seeking clemency. So, if you waive your appeals, do you also waive clemency? If not, how is Kitz going to circumvent that particular statute? Can he ignore laws simply because he's the Governor???
