But if they have 2 good RWD platforms to use, why not make a variation of one? If the Taurus platform is a heavily modded Volvo, i don't see why they can't heavily modify the aussie Cougar to meet US and Europe standards and have both the Tbird and a new Crown Vic and Lincoln out of it.
Recycling and regurgitating anciet platforms is, in my mind, worse and doing so with good designs

That's actually a good idea, but like the BMW it should have coupé and convertible variants and they could be 2+2 or even 2 seaters. It shgould definetly slot above the Stang and get a SVT version with the Supachaged 5.8. To, you know, stuff it in the germans' noses

Here's the thing about retro:
It looked good once, it can look good again. The beetle is a good example. All of them are endearing in their own right. Personally, I would like to own one the latest Turbo models. Great bang for the buck here in Brazil, specially considering it's 15% more than a 2.slow MkIV Golf that we still get.
Houses are made to look like a certain period, tv, fridges, even the iPhone hasn't changed all that much.
What is it you say, "the form makes the product"? Exactly. It doesn't matter the reson people like it. I like the new Mustang and Challenger. I like the Camaro a bit less, but the last Tbird I liked a lot. The inner 70 year old in me loved it. And I'm only 25. I am into tweaking cars a bit, like putting on the right wheels, some eibachs or konis, maybe. That Tbird has potential for me. Look at what Foose did. You may now punch me in the face.

But before I go: GT+Blackwood+Raptor? Really? What do you mean?

I~m pretty sure a Raptor can tow more than a couple of jet skis. Down here in Brazil, people tow jet skis with 1.6 VW Gols, Golfs, Fiat Palios and so on. They two up to 27 foot boats in old gasoline Chevy S10s and Rangers. That said, a V8 is always better.

Look at the flipside:
While we get all the small pickups here in Brazil, the only fullsizer we get is the Ram 2500.
Now, I love that thing and will own one some day and the roads along with it (here in my corner of the country, size REALLY matters).
BUT, having the diesel means having to have the 2500 trim, which adds higher suspension, smaller wheels, a aller bonnet and the necessity to upgrade one´s driver´s license to a "C".
I wish we could have the diesel in the 1500- better in every way.
Better yet, I wish we could have V8s, all the fullsizers with V8s....including your sedans.
I am so bored by 4 cilinders and diesels...they are just everywhere.

Particularmente, um dos meus sonhos automotivos é pegar uma Executive com o 1o facelift pra mexer de leve. E também juntar 2 daqueles V6 4.3 num V12 gigante, fazer blueprint, coroar com um supercharger e colocar o resultado numa réplica modernizada de um Lambo 400 GT ou uma 250 GTL

Não estou preso no passado, meu estimado leitor. Eu já dirigi uma Captiva V6 e realmente é um ótimo carro. Assim como a Edge. Aliás, eu INDIQUEI que um tio meu comprasse a Captiva e mais recentemente a Edge estava entre as 3 que indiquei para outro tio. A questão é que dirigir pra mim não é só ir de um ponto a outro. É toda e qualquer sensação: a entrega de potência (e não só a quantidade), quão progressiva é a embreagem, como é o câmbio, a suspensão, a direção e por aí vai. São carros diferentes para públicos diferentes. Mas se não pode fugir do fato que crossovers são baseados em carros; são minivans com estilo diferente e rodas grandes. Eu sei respeitar quem precisa de espaço. Mas quem realmente só quem mais espaço vai atrás de uma station-wagon. Ou uma minivan. Ambas mais eficientes, baratas e dinamicamente melhores por fatores inerentes aos seus projetos. A Pajero é uma compra ditada pelo ego tanto quanto um crossover. Qualquer um deles. E sim, sou um puritano. Não gosto de carros que mandam em mim.

80 km/h não é uma baixa velocidade. Uma guinada violenta no volante vai desbalancear qualquer carro, eu te garanto. Como carros altos e pesados tem centros de gravidade altos, o que compromete a estabilidade.experimente dar uma guinada violenta a 20 km/h num lugar seguro e sozinho e multiplique por 16 vezes o efeito. Sim, é exponencial. Não vi o acidente e não posso julgá-lo, mas dizer que em qualquer a culpa é só do carro é simplista.
