If we are to truly live in a free society, does it really make sense to incarcerate so many individuals? Shouldn't our overflowing jails and prisons be clear evidence that we have too many laws and we are failing ourselves socially? Why do we allow our government to jail people who peacefully protest against the government by not paying taxes? Why do we allow our government to lock up people like Tommy Chong, or extradite peaceful Canadian activists like the BC3?

If we are to improve our moral standing, as well as maintain a free society, doesn't it seem imperative that we end this nonsense of jailing people who have never caused harm to others?

The video above is a short 2 minute video discussing the extremely high cost of keeping marijuana illegal. Please watch the video, then discuss why you still believe we should continue to spend billions of dollars keeping this safe and natural medicine illegal.

People with problems of addiction can become addicted to anything, be it drugs, alcohol, sex, etc. Using people with pre-existing problems is not a fair analyses of the effects of marijuana. I am a medical marijuana patient, I use only the highest quality of marijuana and when I run out the worst effects I notice are a couple nights of restlessness, and slight irritability. Other than that, I'd say a starbucks addiction is far more severe!

I have friends and family that have had problems with addiction, their problem is with addiction itself, not the drugs or activities they become addicted to.

One could also argue irrational religious beliefs cause ugliness. Church's aren't exactly known for harboring the best looking people either, or perhaps mainstream Christianity is incredibly sinfun?

Marijuana also cures severe irritability and irrational, violent behavior which has become an epidemic in the world. We could all use a natural plant that promotes friendship and laughter, don't you think so too?

Do you honestly think telling your children lies about marijuana is protecting them? It's only a matter of time before they realize you are feeding them a load of BS, and when they realize that they will never take anything you say seriously again. That's just bad parenting!

I believe those numbers are for marijuana offenses. It doesn't take much more than a google search to learn that marijuana arrests far outnumber arrests for any other illegal substance on the books.

Crohn's disease does hurt. Stomach cramps are never fun to deal with, especially during the holidays. Thank you for your compassion ::rolls eyes::

Doctors don't typically know how to grow marijuana, nor does the government. I am a medical marijuana patient in California and the biggest problems have to do with federal involvement in a states issue. Are there people faking conditions to get medical marijuana? Yes, but so what? They don't bother anybody, so I could care less if the other people at the co-ops I visit are faking their conditions.

I'd much rather people lie and buy marijuana from a medical co-op than buy from drug dealers off the street funding an underground market. Medical marijuana in California is taking profits away from drug dealing scumbags, that's a good thing!
