VTOL (or rather STOVL) has, however, caused the F-35 to be the failure that it is, by enforcing a useless, yet unmaneuverable and heavy plane, with the same design flaws, on all three services.

No wonder why the J-31 - a supposed Chinese "copy" of the F-35 - has no STOVL lift fan and doesn't even have room for that. Because it's not intended to have one.

The F-22 Raptor was indeed cheaper, and far more capable, than the F-35 when it was killed for purely political reasons - PRECISELY to eliminate any and all alternatives to the expensive, yet useless F-35 flying pig.

The F-35 will not be "undetected", because it is NOT stealthy from any aspect except the front - and even that only in the X, S, and K/Ku bands.

Yeah, but that was against the very high altitude MiG-31 interceptor, not IADS.

What this article conveniently fails to mention is that the FY2000 NDAA categorically PROHIBITS inviting the Chinese to any US military exercise. The invitation was thus completely illegal and treasonous.

I'm a historian, and as such, I know all too well what appeasement of totalitariam regimes leads to.

The US should simply withdraw from all arms control treaties. They do nothing but undermine US national security.

Yep. He promised them more "flexibility" in appeasing them. And they took those words as a license to do whatever they want.

Bush's missile defense plans. But the US must do still more. Specifically, the US should:
1) Revive the ABL, KEI, and MKV missile defense programs for boost phase interception.
2) Start building an East Coast Missile Defense Site NOW.
3) Accelerate the development and deployment of laser missile defenses, incl. in Europe and Asia.
4) Immediately authorize oil and gas exports to Europe.
5) Cut Russian oligarchs, the Moscow Stock Exchange, and the entire Russian economy from the Western financial system.
6) Kick Russia out of the G8.
7) Resume SM-3 Block 2B development.
8) Withdraw from the CFE and LTBT treaties and resume nuclear testing.

Too late for that, Marvin. Russia has ALREADY launched a war against Ukraine and, many years ago, launched a major arms race on the United States. Now the only choice is between responding to that arms race challenge by rebuilding America's defenses OR allowing Russia to gain a large military edge over the United States. It's either one thing or another.

And a strong, second-to-none national defense would actually PREVENT war by deterring Putin and other aggressors.

As for the Crimea, the referendum there was a sham, a rigged poll with ballots already marked before they were even counted and with more people voting for Russia than the total population of the Crimea! It was ACORN on steroids. Not to mention that the referendum would, in any case, be unconstitutional under the Ukrainian and the Crimean constitution, under which referendums can only be held in ALL of Ukraine, not one part.
