DoD Buzz : Analyst: F-35C to Cost $337 Million Apiece in FY15

VTOL (or rather STOVL) has, however, caused the F-35 to be the failure that it is, by enforcing a useless, yet unmaneuverable and heavy plane, with the same design flaws, on all three services. No wonder why the J-31 - a supposed Chinese "copy" of the F-35 - has no STOVL lift fan and doesn't even have room for that. Because it's not intended to have one.

The F-22 Raptor was indeed cheaper, and far more capable, than the F-35 when it was killed for purely political reasons - PRECISELY to eliminate any and all alternatives to the expensive, yet useless F-35 flying pig.

The F-35 will not be "undetected", because it is NOT stealthy from any aspect except the front - and even that only in the X, S, and K/Ku bands.

Bush's missile defense plans. But the US must do still more. Specifically, the US should: 1) Revive the ABL, KEI, and MKV missile defense programs for boost phase interception. 2) Start building an East Coast Missile Defense Site NOW. 3) Accelerate the development and deployment of laser missile defenses, incl. in Europe and Asia. 4) Immediately authorize oil and gas exports to Europe. 5) Cut Russian oligarchs, the Moscow Stock Exchange, and the entire Russian economy from the Western financial system. 6) Kick Russia out of the G8. 7) Resume SM-3 Block 2B development. 8) Withdraw from the CFE and LTBT treaties and resume nuclear testing.

The Heritage Foundry : Putin Challenges Obama's Long-Held Views on Missile Defense

Too late for that, Marvin. Russia has ALREADY launched a war against Ukraine and, many years ago, launched a major arms race on the United States. Now the only choice is between responding to that arms race challenge by rebuilding America's defenses OR allowing Russia to gain a large military edge over the United States. It's either one thing or another. And a strong, second-to-none national defense would actually PREVENT war by deterring Putin and other aggressors. As for the Crimea, the referendum there was a sham, a rigged poll with ballots already marked before they were even counted and with more people voting for Russia than the total population of the Crimea! It was ACORN on steroids. Not to mention that the referendum would, in any case, be unconstitutional under the Ukrainian and the Crimean constitution, under which referendums can only be held in ALL of Ukraine, not one part.

You are dead wrinong. A8 country immigrants mostly do not perform unskilled jobs, contrary to popular opinion. Initially they did, but most of them now perform skilled jobs and are well compensated for these. And don't tell me natives would work for the minimum wage, bc I'll laugh you out of town! True, EU immigrants will eventually get old and need pensions and hc. But by the time they do, they will contribute more to the UK budget than they will ever get out of it. And they came here to work not mooch welfare, so your claim that they'll claim benefits as soon as eligible for them is patently false: they already are but haven't. As for England, it is but one part of the UK, and comparing it with an entire nation like the Netherlands is utterly dishonest. Its comparing apples to oranges. Its like comparing, say, Bavaria to all of France.

This article is utter garbage, written of course by an anti-immigration zealous bigot. Firstly, all serious studies on immigration have shown that the net effect of immigration, and especially from EU countries, have been strongly positive. Vide the recent UCL study for starters. Thats bc immigrants coming to the UK, esp from Europe, are young, hardworking, and better educated than the natives. They pay MUCH more into the UK budget than they take out of it. Second, the huge and real economic benefits of immigration more than outweigh the effects on housing, transport, and public services - which imigrants also pay a lot for. Thirdly, the dirty little secret that liars like Andrew Green won't tell you is that there are 1.7 mn British expats living in EU countries. If the UK leaves the EU and deports EU immigrants, it will also have to accept all those 1.7 mn British expats on its soil and provide housing, public services, and the like to them. So theres no free lunch. Fourthly, comparing an entire sovereign country (Holland) to just one realm of the UK is so utterly dishobest that it should tell you how dishonest Andrew Green is. He's a deceitful, lying bastard. Shame onhim for lying so blatantly, and shame on CH for posting his screed.

Conservative Home : A French lesson for Miliband as Hollande embraces austerity

Hollande has changed course?! If only! In reality, he has continued the very same old tired policies that he has promoted since 2012: more taxes, more spending, keeping the current highly restrictive labour code and the 35 h work week. Neither he nor the Ayrault govt intend to liberalise the labor code, scrap the 35h, allow ppl to work on Sundays, or cut taxes and spending (other than defence spending).

Conservative Home : Tell us what you would like to see in George Osborne’s Autumn Statement

1) Increase defence spending and start rebuilding the British Armed Forces. 2) Scrap HS2. 3) Scrap the Air Passenger Duty (APD), an economically destructive tax on flying. Its abolition would pay for itself, add 46 bn quid to the UK's GDP, and create 60K new jobs. 4) Cut "social protection" spending by at least 50%, from over 200 bn sterling pa today to no more than 100 bn sterling per annum. 5) Let Scotland become independent and cut off the £25 bn pa annual subsidy from London to Edinburgh, plus, Scotland must assume full responsibility for its share of the national debt (8%) and for the toxic assets of RBS. Likewise, let Wales become independent and cut off the £13 bn pa annual subsidy it gets from London. 6) Privatise the BBC and Channel Four and eliminate subsidies for them (annual saving: over £5 bn). 7) Abolish all quangos to save £124 bn pa. 8) Sell most Royal Residences (incl. Kensington Palace, St James's Palace, Dover Castle, Windsor Castle, Gatcome Park, and the Wood Farm) and the Royal Train. 9) Privatise the QEII Conference Centre. 10) Replace the current income tax rates with the following rates: 10%, 20%, 30%. This would be easy to understand, easy to calculate, and a tax cut for everyone - the poor and the wealthy alike. 11) Cut the licence fee by 80%. 12) Ruthlessly cut waste out of the Border Force while increasing its airport staff where necessary. 13) Institute a firm ban on any welfare for non-citizens. 14) Abolish the Departments of International Development and Culture, Media and Sport. 15) Freeze NHS spending and make savings there: eliminate its internal quango and reinvest the savings in more hospitals, doctors, and nurses. In total, the budget should be balanced no later than FY2014-2015, and the UK should thence immediately start paying down the national debt, to avoid the fate of countries like Greece, Italy, and Portugal.

Of course, that's why I say, Good Riddance, Scotland! Let Scotland secede - and let not one penny more of UK taxpayers' money be spent on defence items or military bases in Scotland. All such contracts should be awarded only to non-Scottish companies and shipyards, and all British military units should be withdrawn from Scotland. Starting with the submarine fleet. The Scots don't want the RN's SSBNs at Faslane? OK. Let these be moved to Devonport.

Speaking of Scotland, let that realm secede from the UK! Let it become independent - but with ALL the responsibilities of an independent Scotland. No more spending over 25 bn quid pa on Scotland by the UK Government. No more spending of any kind by any department of the UK Government, including the MoD - all defence contracts shall go to English companies. No more lending of last resort by the Bank of England. And, of course, the newly independent Scotland shall assume its entire share of the UK national debt, proportional to its population (i.e. 8-9% of the debt) and full responsibility for the toxic assets of RBS - and shall be entitled only to a share of North Sea oil revenues that will be proportional to its population (i.e. 8-9%). And of course, Scotland will have to re-apply to join NATO and the EU. Scotland wants to secede from the UK? Good riddance! The UK taxpayer would immediately be over 25 bn pounds better off each year.

Conservative Home : Book Review. Adrian Hilton: Daniel Hannan's hymn to Anglosphere exceptionalism

"Yet beneath the anti-democratic oligarchy of the European Union, coercive and illiberal forces are limiting religious dissent, corroding judicial independence, and reintroducing a ‘test act’ for public office – that of staunch adherence to the immutable orthodoxy of equality and the inviolable doctrine of secularity. " Yeah? Who and where exactly? Who exactly is limiting religious dissent, corroding or corrupting judicial independence, and introducing such litmus tests in Britain, and where? If you have any such knowledge, you should report it to the police or the Crown Prosecution Service. "Unlike other European states, England never fell to dictatorship or revolution" Except the revolution known as the English Civil War (a brutal fratricidal war if there ever was one) and Oliver Cromwell's dictatorship. "we never voted for fascists or communists" ... but are on track to vote for a third-generation communist, Ed Miliband (AKA 'Red Ed'), who doesn't even know basic economics like the law of supply and demand. BTW, did you know that Miliband's father was one of Britain's chief communist ideologues, and that his grandfather, Samuel Miliband, was a Polish Jew who joined the Red Army in 1919 and fought in that army in 1920? If the Red Army had been successful at the 1920 battle of Warsaw, all of Continental Europe would've fallen to the Bolsheviks. Miliband is backstabbing Communist treacher, and yet, the voters of this country, the United Kingdom, are about to give him a solid majority during the next election, if Electoral Calculus is any indication. Sorry, man. Britain's history is not nearly as rosy as you and I wish it were.
