I read that series way longer than I should have, because I really liked several of the characters. The Author's Notes, however, are hilarious because it becomes increasingly obvious that Piers Anthony never wants to hear another pun in his life and his readers. just. keep. sending them.

I bet she's on the board of the Lady Sybil Free Hospital.

I've always assumed the nurse Moist spoke to in Going Postal was Lady Sybil. She's described similarly to the way Sybil has been described before, and she pulled her High Society Lady voice, which we've also seen her do when she wants to control a situation. Moist just isn't a character who could identify her by name.

And to pull this all back around, I know a number of people who felt David Tennant would make a very good Moist Von Lipwig. (Because he does indeed do "morally slippery" very well).And since it was pointed out, it's really hard to unsee.

I know this is ages later, but the article that immediately came to mind was this one by Ruth Tam. There's also a bunch of work by Professor Krishendu Ray about the sociology of pricing in "ethnic" cuisine. His faculty page has links to many article about how Americans percieve pricing and value of non-American foods. There's a good chance that whatever article Mark read, it was referencing Professor Ray.

Octavia Butler is amazing, and Jane Yolen is a fairly prolific children's book author. I've also heard good things about Wyldling Hall. Elizabeth Hand I can't speak about, but just those first few authors probably make the bundle worth it.
