There is already private security, mediation and arbitration, and they work fine.

Also, Stefan Molyneux has a lot of good ideas how this would work (even better) in absence of a state using insurance companies.

There are some exceptions, but unfortunately, I think the overwhelming majority of TV shows and movies contain pro-government propaganda. It seems like you can't watch an episode of anything without being passively re-educated.
