I always imagined that they got the Magic Box on the cheap, since everyone who ever owned it was killed by a vampire or some other mystical evil. Indeed, I imagine that's the only reason anybody works or lives in Sunnydale at all. Houses are cheap, the job market has high turn-over, and let's be honest, nobody would agree to be principal of Sunnydale High unless they were making a couple hundred thousand a year.

Coming in to say that, as a girl raised in a middle-upper class home where I was never expected to do chores in my *own* home, yes, we're still taught that it's polite to help with dishes or other chores while in other people's homes. I daresay I wasn't any *good* at doing the dishes until I went to college, since I never learned to do them properly, but I still always offered when I was at a friend's place.

Anyone who comes into the house would probably be frozen, as well. So when either the cops bust the door in or the bank comes a-knocking, they'd get caught in the freeze bubble.

I think Joss Whedon just likes to give his characters names meant for the opposite sex. Another example: Jayne, in Firefly.

I want to say that there was a deleted scene in the fourth movie where they are wandering about the forest, singing the Hogwarts song, and then they come across Barty Crouch Sr.'s corpse. It might have been a different corpse and movie, though, but I want to say it's Goblet of Fire.

Watchtower and Exodus are most excellent. Great list; I am gonna have to check some of these ones out, for sure. I was practically raised a metalhead (the softest music my mum listened to was Zeppelin), but it's one of those genres that, in spite of how huge and popular it is, is basically only acknowledged when there is something we can blame it for.

I must say, I forgive a lot of shit just for that awesome animation of the three brothers.

Well, we're all animals, aren't we? I'm merely saying that if you're in a situation where things aren't handed to you on a silver platter, as they often are in the so-called Western world, then I see no point in telling them they can't eat something because of our incredibly pretentious view that we need to save the animals. Frankly, I am against all animal conservation, even if it is more 'modernized' people doing it (I know I've always defended the Japanese when people get on their high horse about them killing dolphins or whales), but I think it is doubly true if you aren't systematically hunting them.

The statement "the native populations of the various African nations in which they are eaten, don’t care" seems incredibly insensitive. We are far too oversensitive about endangered species. Let's face it, some species are going to die out. If we were killing them en masse without maintaining their life (as we do with cattle and whatnot), then I can see an argument against it. But if native people, presumably with comparatively primitive tools, want to eat gorilla, then they should. And if the gorilla die out from it, well, that's called natural selection.
