I ride the bus up from Tacoma for exactly this reason. To avoid the headache of traffic. Having a better mass-transit infrastructure in the SODO area would most likely help. An infrastructure that people WANT to use.

I'm assuming you're referring tot he light-rail but I avoid the Sounder train because it's twice the cost of the bus and gets you there in roughly the same amount of time. If it were twice the speed, maybe I would consider using the Sounder.

Hopefully some of the people on the panel have some good ideas for traffic mitigation that actually work. I still wish we had a subway here.

It's been too long. What was the final gap? I seem to recall that without the win on that stage Contador would not have won.

The DOT owns the right of way already. In areas where the new Right of Way will encroach on buildings, parks, parking etc, they are required to compensate. The homeless squatting on DOT property are a completely different situation.
