Like Hasbro damage control would have made a difference anyways. We'd still have a Season 3 Freakout.

Let's say they said something like this, in regards to Princess Twilight:
"Oh, we made these changes to Twilight because we think it will open up new avenues and open up new possibilities for the show in the years to come."

Yeah, I guarantee you many people in the Fandom wouldn't buy that. Even if people at DHX said it, people wouldn't buy it either.

Regarding that... I've heard people say that desperation may have played a part in that figure. Do keep in mind this was summer 2013, right smack in the middle of the Drought.

2013 proved that the Pony Fandom is NOT immune from the gigantic bouts of drama that go on in the more prevalent Fandoms, as much as people liked to believe that it was.

I don't agree with you on MMC, but I respect your rather blunt opinion on it.
I DO agree, though, that while you made a somewhat exaggerated comparison, that does kind of fit with what the Fandom was going through; HOWEVER, I saw the peak of that happen when the announcement was made (through Entertainment Weekly). It DID lessen a bit when the episode actually aired.

Even if they did acknowledge that S3 was a 13 episode season, It wouldn't have changed a thing.
We'd still have the same level of, as you put it, "flailing and frothing and speculation and singing of the DOOM", and it would still be about Twilicorn. All acknowledging a 13-episode season would have done was alleviate people's fears about the show ending- not about what would happen in the 4th season.
