You also don't know the emotional and physical stress and pain involved in this work.

many of my coworkers have gone to therapy over it.

Have you ever been IN an underfunded (gotta kill that PORK) institution, and watch these people suffer and get sick and have sores and staph infections and leaking G-Tubes and painfully large hydrocephalic heads, not knowing why this is happening, and alot of the time even who anyone is.

And some of them even have full mental capacity, but are trapped in their own bodies, and there's just you and 16 of them to care for over 16 hour shifts.

A nearby institution is being cut off of federal funding, because people have died due to the lack of proper care. And the primary reason for this is that we just don't have the FUNDS to buy the manpower, train the manpower, to buy good quality supplies and enforce standards and practices protocols.

We have to rely on TEMPS most of the time. People right off the street get a week course and are expected to run Behavior Modification Programs as assigned by Psychologists you can never find. They usually never last two days, so theres all these strangers running around doing ignorant things, and confusing-- sometimes terrifying-- my charges.

HAVE YOU ever had to sit with a person who has a five year old's level of intelligence, strong as an ox, absolutely destroying everything and everyone because the one thing they get to have, for example, a toy car, was stolen from him by another resident, and for 8 hours you have to sit and try to talk him down from opening his head on the table and pulling the wound apart.

And you are still trying to care for the 15 others, usually by yourself, and sometimes with a kid right off the street who doesn't know S from shinola.

But no, instead of giving us the money to care for these people, that CAN'T care for themselves, can't appeal to ANYBODY for help, sometimes because they simply can't communicate...

we buy another bomb and start a stupid war and never worry about your countrymen, and the helpless, who you all seem to love to degrade.

And I take exception to anyone saying that this is not real sacrifice.

We have to watch these people wither and die, trying our best, and always failing because we simply don't have enough resources, and nobody has the balls to try their best like us.

I honor your service, and it is HIGHLY disrespectful to degrade ours, to diminish our long, hard struggle and self-sacrifice for the helpless brothers and sisters among us.

That isn't Christian, it isn't American.

I never complain like this, it just needs to be said. We all do our part, and we all deserve respect, although the Armed Forces deserve the Highest Respect.

I work for what I get, I pay my taxes, and I deserve benefits just the same as any other taxpayer, I have never asked for Welfare.
