I think we need economic policies that don't penalize those who are responsible with their finances, who live within their means, who save for their children's education, for their retirement, and for a rainy day.
The economy of insatiable and ever growing consumption is simply not sustainable. Yet, newspaper headlines paint gloomy pictures like "people not spending much his Holiday Season". I celebrate such headlines. What the government can do is work to create productive jobs as part of a sustainable and green economy and make sure that jobs that are productive (useful to society) pay decent and competitive wages. The free ride of speculators has to end.
