The economy of insatiable and ever growing consumption is simply not sustainable. Yet, newspaper headlines paint gloomy pictures like "people not spending much his Holiday Season". I celebrate such headlines. What the government can do is work to create productive jobs as part of a sustainable and green economy and make sure that jobs that are productive (useful to society) pay decent and competitive wages.
