I guess I could say President Bush has inspired me by being the perfect example of "anybody can really become president" (i.e. provided you have the right connections)...And he also paved the way for what was supposed to be a change in the mindset of the general population i.e. we are trying to put race issues and differences aside and negate the need for the use of "the race card" (Our first [qualified] black president)...even that job I guess is failing however because, contrary to what a lot of opponents of the ideas of our current president (some, as simple as encouraging children to stay in school and be productive) are saying, the only logical reasoning behind disagreeing with certain ideas is a racist mindset. Issues such as THIS are the reason we have to draw the race card. NOT because we can't hold our own in a debate, according to "caution" who finds it easy to be able to safely assume that all "democrats are on welfare" - a perfect reflection of the atmosphere of the general mindset!

Lmao...wow...really! This is so so horrible, I would not want my child to hear this message whatsoever...haha...this country is slowly going to the dogs and I'm not referring to the government either. The conservative, lack of common sense mindset is fostering a negativity that can bring about no good in the present, near or far future...wise up people. Use your head!

Can't help but think this turmoil -nationally and locally all boils down to racism! The TV stations, newspaper, general media around the area has indoctrinated the population to believe that black folk are ignorant so subconsciously many of the opponents only see the colour of the messenger rather than his message; whether they choose to or not. A strong stance by me, yes I know, I hate to pull the race card but...seriously I'm seeing a huge lack of common sense in too many different areas overall! Time for a change! People in general are tired of this ignorant and arrogant behaviour which is why they voted for a candidate that ran on this change campaign as opposed to a candidate that seemed to represent the mindset of the old. Maybe this in itself is proof that MLK's dream might fully come through, "One day...." Hopefully sooner than later because the atmosphere of hate is taking too long to peak before it falls off...

Really? The atmosphere of hate and ignorance is by means of reversal being transferred to the kids. I won't even draw the obvious race card as the cause for all the doubt and accusations and the yelling and the anger of all these people against the president! I see people that lack even the common decency to listen to a shred of reason and intelligently argue and make decisions -I'm sure there are a few that have taken the time out to carefully analyze the situation at hand and still oppose the president and his views but I could easily say, from my observation solely (personal encounters and arguments with people), that a majority of people just blindly follow bits and pieces of information and get their deductions there (mostly a "people hear what they want to hear" or "believe what they want to believe" situation) instead of actually taking the time out and the patience to intelligently decipher facts for themselves.
Now that I've vented and strayed off topic long enough, with all that being said, let the children watch the president give a valid, educational message! Stop trying to proliferate the brainwashing of your own in the sense that you leave your children narrow-minded and close-minded - lacking the privilege of growing up with the ability to make intelligent choices based on analysis of their own based on the interaction which you have with them. Let them watch at least and then approach you with the questions first at least then you may carefully explain to them in a fair manner why you do or do not agree with that particular point of view: In any case I don't foresee the need for that because conspiracy theorists are just going to far and beyond with this belief that there is a mass decision across government to move towards socialism....
-just my thoughts, you may agree or disagree as I expect, but please no personal attacks on me,

I love the filter on here; so intelligent. I guess you aren't allowed to say f.a.r.t to the extent that "f.a.r.ther" (which I think you were trying to say) becomes a bad word...love technology

I think my statement might have been taking off my intended rails slightly; in no way shape or form do I condone, children at 5 years old drinking. My niece is that age and I would probably be the first to take action against something like this. In any case, whether the age is 21 or 16, strictly enforced or loosely managed, the particular law does not stop freak cases such as you listed where children are fed alcohol at the age of 5. I was simply expressing my disgust at the fact that this law was (or had to be) established in the first place because it has led to youngsters glamorizing alcohol, and I've seen two things that don't make sense as a result: 1) individuals WILL find a way to drink u-21 and 2) once they reach 21 many of them "get wasted" to dangerous levels. It's like the age-old basic psychology ---if I tell you that you can't think about the color red I'd like to see you try NOT to think about it: Tell kids they can't drink until they're 21 and it becomes the biggest goal for them to see what it's all about and then they become "the cool kid" because they are daring and are breaking the law. I agree that changing those laws would not be suitable for America now because of the lack of cultural maturity, it would be impossible to change the law. This is why I was simply highlighting the hypocrisy of the system again, with the view that these kids are considered adults at 18 by the system in many different ways i.e. the court system, the military the general culture (expected they move out of mommy and daddy's home by then) so it would have been fair to match the law for this overly hyped "event" (what drinking has evolved into here in the US) with everything else adult...what make cigarettes ok at 18 but alcohol not? Keep in mind that I am not a proponent of changing the law because once again like you said, the culture could not handle it. I just have to weigh out the points of things that are in place and not just take them at face value...more logic-minded than faith-based I guess, at least where certain regulations are concerned.

blah, blah, blah nobody cares. if the law didn't make such a big deal about a drinking age from the beginning, the stigma surrounding alcohol and "getting wasted man" wouldn't be such a big deal. observe other countries where you just need to be able to see over the bar to purchase/consume alcohol: no big hype surrounding it, people drink much more responsibly (reference: my own personal experience i.e. living in several world regions)...granted, it's still breaking the law but note my point as being this particular law is an example of the many trivialities within the US legal code...enforcement that could be appropriated elsewhere on more time worthy issues such as drug enforcement...I could go on and on....
