Seems like NY has found another way to drum up some more tax dollars. Require reregistration for STAR. Isn't it funny that they have not sent out any formal notifications to those who have already applied for it, particularly those who are under the age of 65. They only have to file once, and if they miss this news story, they will have a really nice surprise come September.

Edited to update:

Called assessor's office this afternoon and was told that STAR applications for this year is already active and will be applied. This action is for the 2014 tax year, and I was told that NYS would be advising people by mail about their recertification process.

Problem is, every time we have seen a plant 'upgrade' it has been because they want to up the price of selling out. I'll let time be my guide, not optimistic news stories.

Only my opinion, but it seems to me that this female Sheriff's Deputy Krystal was never taught a very basic lesson in life. "If one wants to dance with the dance with the Devil, then sooner, or later, they are going to get burned."

With all of the crap 'porn' that exists all over the Internet today, she didn't have to 'pose', just grab any pix and say it was her. Would have worked just as good, I figure. This entire thing seems to be more geared to generating a nice 'early retirement' action on her part. 50 million would set her up nicely, don't you agree?

NOTICE TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE VILLAGE OF ILION

Your thoughtful local politicians are setting up a special 'Turn in your deed' day. Between the rising School Taxes, Village Taxes, County Taxes, Medicaid Taxes, Sewer Taxes, and other taxes on you pay on your property, we're going to get it anyway, so save yourself the time and trouble and just bring your deed down and donate it. You're going to get nothing for it anyway when we seize it for non-payment of taxes so why not make it easy on us, and yourself.

DONATE NOW. IT'S THE COMMUNITY THING TO DO!

Brought to you by your local political action committee.

"Two councilmembers, Jim Zecca and Frank Vescera, want to show city taxpayers what it would take to wipe out that 18 percent tax hike and bring it down to zero."

Try reading a story before you comment on it. If there is an 8% citywide paycut, the 18% tax hike would be eliminated.

I knew Cuomo's tax cap was a bunch of hogwash. All he did was play a political trick to get support when, in reality, he didn't do anything but allow counties, towns, and villages the right to override the 2% cap using all kinds of backroom clauses. Typical NYS political nonsense. Ilion has done it, Herkimer County is doing it, and now even the Village of Herkimer wants to do it. There won't be any tax relief for anybody. Quite the opposite, taxes will be higher than ever.

How about those who say they can't work because of an injury, but are bowling every week, tearing an engine out of a car, hunting with a bow every year, etc, etc. This entire system is riddled with so much fraud an theft that this story is only the tip of the iceberg statewide. If they really got into it, they would probably find billions of dollars of dollars of wasted tax dollars.
